This project was coordinated through the Texas A&M University Agriculture Program’s Institute of Renewable Natural Resources, along with the departments of Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences; Wildlife and Fisheries Sciences; and Rural Sociology. Support services were provided by the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station and Texas A&M University Agricultural Communications. The study team greatly appreciates the following groups and individuals for their feedback during the study process:

Parks and recreation directors from across Texas especially those who attended listening sessions and provided survey responses.

The Texas Recreation and Parks Society, Texas Parks and Recreation Foundation, and the Texas Parks and Wildlife Foundation.

Representatives of conservation, non-profit and other organizations who provided invaluable insights about the outdoor recreation system in Texas. Telephone survey responses from and meetings with many of these individuals were indispensable in shaping the report.

TPWD staff and members of the internal and external review committees established by the department to provide feedback on early drafts of the study.

The team also appreciates the work and dedication of graduate students and staff of the aforementioned Texas A&M departments. Staff assistant Vivian Gonzales is gratefully acknowledged for information processing assistance and facilitating the work of project managers throughout the process. TPWD Director Andy Sansom, Chief of Staff Gene McCarty, and Director of Intergovernmental Affairs Ralph Rayburn provided essential insights and access to needed information.

Telsurvey Research Associates is acknowledged for conducting the statewide citizen survey.

The dedication of these groups and individuals to the well-being of all Texas citizens will help the visions presented in this report to become reality.
