It is important to note that members of the committee should have a commitment to the community and the idea of preparing a tourism plan, as well as the necessary time availability to develop this plan. The committee will
be required to meet as well as undergo various tasks outside of the meetings. Committee members representing organizations and businesses who are true stakeholders (i.e. are actively involved in the tourism industry) have to play a central role. Government representatives and other interested community members can assist and do a lot of the work but they cannot prepare the plan on their own.
Keep the committee a workable size – big enough that the tasks can be spread around, but not too large to be unmanageable. Approximately 10 to 15 people in total on the main committee is generally ideal.
