Letter to Agency

 

Future Interns:

Depending upon your communications thus far with a potential internship site, it may be beneficial to write a letter to the agency with which you have applied. The purpose of this letter is to thank the agency for considering you, and to make sure that they are aware of the internship requirements.   The following is a suggested format for the letter.  Modify the contents to suit your specific situation.

Thank you for considering participation in Texas A&M University's Recreation, Park and Tourism Sciences Internship Program.  As a student intern, I look forward to serving (insert agency name) while improving my skills and knowledge of (tourism/municipal recreation/recreation administration...).

To fulfill my internship requirements, I am required to work a minimum of 400 hours, meet weekly with my supervisor, submit reports to my Faculty Advisor, and complete self-assessments at the mid-point and end of my internship. 

Our program requires that supervisors provide all necessary training and orientation for the position, be available to direct the intern and answer their questions, provide written evaluations of the intern at the mid-point and end of the internship period, and discuss these evaluations with the student intern.
