Welcome to RENR 662:
Water Resources Law and Policy


This course will investigate the influence of the legal system on the management, development and allocation of water resources in the United States and Texas.

The field of water law is implicitly a study of legal process focusing on the roles of the federal, state and local governments in the allocation and protection of surface and ground water.

Students will read law cases and related material prior to class and must be prepared to discuss these cases in class. Students must prepare a case brief each week.

This course is structured to provide an overview of the legal system and its impact in allocating and protecting water resources.

- Course Paper - Due May 5
- Final Exam (take home) - Due May 5
