Date and Location:
Texas A&M University will host its 2009 Camp Day for counselor recruitment on Tuesday, February 3, 2009. This event is scheduled to be conducted in the Flag Room and first floor hallway of the Memorial Student Center. Registrations are limited to 36 spaces in the Flag Room (see map) and 20 in the first floor hallway.
Registration will be accepted beginning January 5, 2009 and camps which participated in Camp Day 2008 will be held a spot until January 23, 2009. After that date, remaining spaces will be assigned to new camps. Each camp will be assigned to a table. We will not be permitted to set up the larger floor displays in either the flag room or the hall, so your exhibits must fit on the furnished tables (or in the same space) which are approximately five (5) feet in length and which will be arranged around the central core. Electrical outlets will be shared but should be sufficient to meet everyone's needs. However, you will probably need to bring an extension cord. On the registration form, please indicate your preference of either the flag room or the hallway, and whether or not you will need access to electricity. We will attempt to group camps according to type (agency, religious, ...) and to assign specific tables on a random basis within those groups.
Time:
Camp Day will be advertised as beginning at 9:00 AM and continuing until 3:30 PM.
Fee:
The fee will be $35 but will NOT include parking fees. This will enable you to select which parking garage you want to use (see Parking information, below.)
Parking:
Parking in the Koldus parking garage adjacent to the Memorial Student Center is now $15 per day. It is more expensive, but it
is more convenient. Designated conference parking has been changed to the Westside Parking Garage across the Welborn Road ($6).
You may unload at the Memorial Student Center then go to the parking garage and return via the pedestrian underpass.
There should be ample parking available and it will be cheaper for you to pay for it individually than for me to charge you and
trade off tickets as we did two years ago.
Payment:
Your reservation form and a check for the fee should be sent to the Department at the address below in time to arrive by
January 23, 2009. (If your agency cannot cut a check in the time provided, bring it with you to Camp Day.) Your fee will defray the cost of advertising in the student newspaper, flyers, and
modest refreshments. If you have questions or problems, call (979) 845-5368 and a secretary or I will
try to assist you. We look forward to meeting our camping friends again this year.
