Rebecca A. Benná, CPRP has been the Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Miamisburg, Ohio since 1994.  She is responsible for leading a comprehensive and mission-focused parks and recreation municipal department which includes parks and various green spaces, municipal buildings, golf course operations, a skate park, a BMX bike trail, greenways, senior adult facility, a family aquatic center and historical facilities, such as Adena Indian Mound, a 1880’s community museum, a city–wide volunteer program, and recreation and special event programming for a diverse population.

Benná’s previous employment includes park and recreation positions with the City of Phoenix, Arizona, City of Scottsdale, Arizona, and City of Kettering, Ohio.  She also served as an operations analysis consultant for the City of Indianapolis, Indiana.

In 2004, Rebecca completed a two-year term as the President of the Ohio Parks and Recreation Association and she is a current member of the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA), Great Lakes Regional Council, and serves as President-Elect of the Council of State Affiliate Presidents.  Benná has served as President of the NRPA National Aquatics Council and chaired the NRPA National Aquatics Management School. She also served as the Chairperson and a member of the NRPA National Professional Certification Board and the APRS Benefits Task Force.  Rebecca is Past-Chairperson and a member of the Board of Regents for the National Institute of Golf Management; and she is the Past-Chairperson and instructor for the Business Institute for Park, Recreation and Leisure Services at Oglebay Park in Wheeling, West Virginia. 

Rebecca is a past recipient of the NRPA Robert W. Crawford Outstanding Young Professional Award and NRPA Pacific Southwest Young Professional Award.

Rebecca has been a presenter at various local, state and national seminars and conferences, such as several National Recreation and Park Association Conferences, Ohio Park and Recreation Association State Conference, Pennsylvania Parks and Recreation Society State Conference, National Athletic Business Conference, North Carolina Parks and Recreation State Conference and Regional Directors Seminar, National Business Institute for Park, Recreation and Leisure Professionals, and National Institute for Golf Management.  She holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Recreation Administration from Bowling Green State University.
