Course Objectives

• Understand the changing view of adolescence in the United States over the last century.
• Describe and understand youth culture.
• Define the concepts of risk and assets and understand principles of youth development.
• Learn the basics of leadership and related principles as they apply to youth serving agencies.
• Identify the characteristics, program emphases, administrative methods, and membership of the major youth serving agencies in the United States.
